It has been bitter cold here the last few days, -35c with the wind chill. Too cold to be outside for long. The radio and newspaper are filled with reports of concern for the homeless. Too cold to be outside without proper clothing. Too cold to be outside without a warm place to find shelter. Concern for those who cannot afford to heat their homes.
The homeless shelters always need hats, mittens, socks, and scarves. A few years back I de-stash yarns I knew I would never use; that yarn became 57 pairs of mittens & 2 pairs of socks.
If you knit or crochet and have, unused stash consider donating it to a senior’s home; they knit mittens and socks for those in need all year long. I have a bag I'm taking over to my Dad’s nursing home for the Ladies' knitting group.
Even the much maligned garter stitch scarf will be warm when someone is cold.
Warming on the East Coast.
