We had a meeting on Tuesday with the hospital team looking after Dad: the doctors, head nurse, physiotherapist, social worker etc.
The news is not good.
The example they used was - if you and I are a 100 (meaning we need no help looking after our needs). Dad is currently a 3 and to go into rehab you must be a 40. Dad may reach 10. He will never walk, can not sit unsupported, it requires two men (the lift team) to get him in and out of the bed or a chair. He can not roll over in bed, he can not pull himself up in bed, he requires the nurse to take care of all of his physical needs.
He will be placed directly in a Long Term Care Facility - Nursing Home when a bed becomes available.
This picture was taken on the day we took Mom's & Dad's dog - Lady into the hospital.
I don't know who was more excited the nurses, Dad or Lady...
Reading sustains me and allows me to escape for a little while...
I've always read a lot however lately I've been reading in the wee hours of the night when I cannot sleep. My mind is a whirl and reading calms me and allows me to re-charge to face the next day.
